The History Club Scholarship

The Ramapo History Club will offer a single academic scholarship each year in the amount of $250. This will be awarded as the prize for an essay-writing contest held each Spring semester, in which students will have to compose brief essays on a question chosen by our student leadership. Essays will be judged anonymously by a team of Ramapo History faculty.

How To Enter:

Everyone except Seniors graduating this Spring may enter.

Compose an essay of @1000 words, typed, using your best writing style and proper format. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME anywhere on the paper. Instead, include a Cover Sheet with your name. Give your essay to Dr. Sam Mustafa, the History Club advisor, either at his office in B-205, or leave it in his mailbox in the AIS Office. Essays will not be accepted via email.

This year's essay question is: "What is History?"

The deadline for turning in your essay is: March 15, 2007.

How We Will Judge:

After we receive your essay we will give it a number, both on the cover sheet and on every page. We will tear off your cover sheet and save it. A panel of three Ramapo History professors will read each essay, without knowing the names of any of the authors. They will judge the winning essay and notify the History Club.

We will then announce the winner in April at our General Meeting. If you enter the contest, be sure to be at that meeting!
