More Questions
« on: June 01, 2012, 06:46:41 PM »

Sorry to pester, Maurice has convinced me to make the Lasalle leap, so I'm doing much pondering and planning.  In the Russian lists, Guard cavalry are undifferentiated.  Stats suggest guard currassier, but some preliminary reading indicates the Russians had all kinds of guard cavalry - Hussars, etc.  In game terms, do I use whatever figures I want, but treat them as undifferentiated guard, or do I use the light cavalry support option if I want "non-heavy" guard?

Good question  :D
I'd also be keen to see the response.

I'm no expert but I would think you'd use the light cav brigade support option for the Guard Hussars etc. makes more sense vs. the 'heavy shock' clarification. The Guard Hussars and Dragoons definitely had their reverses as well as success in the field, so treating them as light Cav might be more appropriate, rather than the heavier lifeguard units...

It's your figs and army though, so IMO you could use Hussar etc. models as shock troops if you want too. I doubt you'd get too many complaints.
