Second attempt at this post ... Note to self: do NOT refresh the verification captcha after writing anything ... it wipes out the post. Sigh.

So, quick intro about me ... First time poster here, but active on a number of other forums, especially BoardGameGeek (something ridiculous like 8,000 posts). Long time wargamer ... board and war-games since the late 1960s and early 70s (Little Wars, Avalon Hill). Like many here an armchair military history buff, with a focus on WW2, especially tactical level. Favourite theatres are West Front and Med, for whatever reason neither East Front or PTO hold that much appeal. Grew up next door to an ex-Luftwaffe fighter pilot (who flew Me262s late in his career), and am now the son-in-law of a (late) Polish II Crops army vet who was awarded the Cross of Valour for his actions in Italy with the 5th Kresowa during 1944-45.

I play much more board wargames now than minis ... gave up ASL years ago preferring GMT's more chaotic Combat Commander for my tactical fix. Mini rulesets I like include Arty Conliffe's brilliant CrossFire, Too Fat Ladies stuff, and Peter Pig's Poor Bloody Infantry (more on squares in a minute). Like everyone here, I've tried a lot of mini rules over four-plus decades, at pretty much all scales. I knew of Sam's work for Napoleonic era, but saw a post on BGG about Rommel so I thought I'd read about it and, if worth my time, give it a try.

Love it. Sam, I have to tell you, just excellent work. Smooth, makes sense, tactically interesting, and though initially hesitant about squares, I know it worked with PBI so I gave you system a shot, and am thrilled I did. At this scale, Rommel is brilliant, well done.

I liked the rules so much after my third read through, I decided to make a Vassal module for the ruleset (as I lack enough minis at this scale). I do a lot of Vassal design work for game publishers. This one's a personal project for me, and a minimum viable effort right now, but includes a lot of things I wanted to add in. Custom terrain tiles for all of the terrain types (including beaches and river edges) that are drawn randomly from a deck of each type. All eight nationalities base units and some scenario-specific and personalized custom units. Markers, both generic and nation-specific, turn marker and weather marker. Default Europe and desert map gridded backgrounds, and all three basic scenarios built in and set up to play. Custom designed unit counters. Redesigned custom OPS sheets with room for a player's OOB and units, with markers instead of dice used (it was easier). I'm hoping Sam might allow me to provide link to the module for Rommel fans here on the forums?

Anyway, here are some screen shots of the rough (early) unit counter designs, as well as some shots of the module close up. Sorry for the large image size. Enjoy, and thanks Sam for the utterly great ruleset!!

Yes, with a couple of caveats:

1) As long as you're not posting anything that "gives away" the game for free, in other words: people still need to buy the book or PDF in order to play.

2) Assuming #1 is in order, then please include the following disclaimer:

"All images and terms from ROMMEL used with permission of Sam Mustafa Publishing LLC."

Glad you're enjoying Rommel!

Oh, and PS:  I notice that there's not a Boardgamegeek page for Rommel yet?  Would you mind putting it up, since you've done that for them before, and then a link to your module?

Fantastic!

1) I'll make sure to remove the reference, combat, and advanced rules summary charts. You'll need the ruleset to know how any of this comes together.

2) I'll include that disclaimer as part of the module itself (there is a visible copyright when the module loads in Vassal), as well as the notes in the module.

3) I'll get a page posted to the site in the coming few days. My pleasure.

This is the ruleset at this scale that I have been personally waiting for.

I've been at Origins playing board games for the past week, so am only getting back to wrapping this up now. The BGG page has been updated. Just the copyright notes to add to the module, the charts are removed. Should be done in a few days.
