Time For A Reprint, Lasalle Rule Book
« on: April 23, 2016, 01:46:17 PM »
Well I notice the price of second hand printed Lasalle rule books continues to grow GBP36 just now on EBay...

I know I'd be in for a new minty copy, I'm sure there's many others like myself who frown on spending money on PDFs which cost more than a printed copy would in the long run when you print them properly or they look crap when stripped down to printer friendly versions...maybe I'm one of a dying breed???  :)

I like PDF, instant delivery i can print off new pages when damaged etc . I  am sure if you put up the money for a print run Sam will oblige😊 . My main gripe is when there is errata rule writers can't ammend the whole page to reprint.

For the past year or so I've been thinking about whether to do a sort of "second edition" Lasalle that would incorporate the errata, the additional armies that have sprouted over the years, and perhaps make a few changes.  I don't want to rewrite the whole game.

But that has perpetually taken a back seat to bigger projects. But, holding out hope that one day I'll get around to it, I have resisted sinking the (considerable) money into a hardback reprint of the original edition.

What about Print on Demand?
That seems to work well for other rules sets, and removes the risk to you of a large print run of a second edition, which is never going to sell as well as a first edition.

I haven't ruled that out.  But it would still require a good amount of time to redo the layout for a different printer, and I'd need to include errata that might change page numbers, which would effectively mean that it was a 2nd edition.

So if it's going to be a 2nd edition, then I'd like to take my time and do it right.

I would buy 2 copies. I love this game that much! The one copy I have. I was able to snag from a vendor and I paid 60 bucks for it. It was used  with the spine already deteriorated.  I would love new printed copies please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
