Basing units

Yorkie,

Thanks for the help. I think the 8 figure base makes more sense to me then 6. I remember years ago having 12 figs per battalion. And it was like this for 3 battalion regiments and leave off the last one for a 24 figure battalion

Hello,  Yorkies 1st post is how I was trying to describe it, Remember however you do it, the grenadier company goes on the right most end of the unit and the voltiger company goes on the left, not really how you have them intermingled on each base as per your last post fredloan1.

cheers

fredloan1:
Scruff,

Man I have gotten so many opinions, LOL. Now my last post showed intermingled Voltigeurs ad Grenadiers but, that row in my formation is not attached to the first two ranks (separate bases) and, the Voltigeurs and Grenadiers were actually on a divided base so they can move independently. Does that make a difference? Then I can still setup the way you formed the battalion

fredloan1:
well in my formation there are two extra Grenadiers and Voltigeurs in place of Fusiliers

straylight:
howdy guys, first post here and a newb to naps wargaming to boot.

this is really an observation of the basing problem that fredloan is discussing.

the french organisation of 2 fusilier companies backed up on either flank by companies of the grenadiers and voltiguers is kinda mute in Lasalle except for aesthetic purposes. Four stands make up the battalion. It would be nice to make the stands on the flanks the voltiguers and grenadiers, but it makes absolutely no difference to the way the game is played. The voltiguers ability to skirmish is represented by the additional skirmish bases you can deploy.

personally, I think it looks much nicer to have the grenadiers and the voltiguers on the flanks, so go for it. But I don't think it matters in Lasalle.
