I played in Jay Laura and Barry Katz's 28mm game today, in which the French Guard attacked the Ottoman Turks. It was a surprisingly tough match. The Turkish cavalry predictably raised havoc until the French Guard cavalry showed up, at which point the Turks were running for their lives.
It went to 20 turns, but the French had been slowed enough at the beginning that they were having trouble putting together massed attacks. Even going in piecemeal, though, the Guards are fearsome! They tossed my Janissaries right out of our trenches with barely a grunt. Good shooting by Turkish irregulars from a nearby forest helped wear them down. The French got tantalizingly close to the objective but ran out of steam, out of time, and out of men. It was an Ottoman decisive victory due to superior pursuit cav at the end.
