Hey everyone. I'm just about to order Lasalle and some AB French infantry tonight and I was wondering, since AB minis are 18mm, should I base them as 15mm or 20mm+? Any thoughts?

Most of my stuff is AB and I base them as 15mm. Even though some manufacturers list miniatures as 15mm they are often closer to 18mm.
Thanks for the quick response. I figured 15mm basing was correct, but it never hurts to ask.
This is the first time I have tried gaming with Napoleonic miniatures, so there will be a lot of questions in my future. I haven't even looked at a set of Napoleonic rules since I bought Napoleon's Campaigns in Miniature by Bruce Quarrie in the very early 80's. Still have the book, but never got around to playing.
From what I see from Lasalle, this is the game I have been waiting for. I can't wait to get going and try this game out.
Thanks again...
Hey John,
I'm sure you'll enjoy the figures and the rules!

Mark
I think the key dimension is actually width (dredth?) or "chunkiness". The AB minis are very finely deatiled and quite slender so will fit easily on the recommended basing - you could possibly even add a figure to bulk them up.
I have some "15mm" Reaper minis for various fantasy games and they are possibly double the chunkiness of most normally proportioned 15mm figures so basing become a problem.
Additionally the poses in AB are very much made for wargaming bases. You can buy figures with bits extended out in various directions but the main unit fillers have nice compact designs that make basing easy and minimises wear and tear from interlocking bits when the bases are pushed together.
