A basic issue came up in a game today - two units with better SK factors were both firing at one target. I play the rules that EACH unit adds an extra dice for having better skirmishers. My opponent had read the rules that since you have to declare all shooting against a target, you only get one extra dice for all unit's shooting.
So if two units in column with SK2 both fire at one enemy target with SK1, do they get 5 shooting dice or 6 shooting dice?

The way I read and play it, is that each unit has its own value which is then combined so each would get 2 dice +1 for sk value = 3 dice per unit. Giving a total of 6 in this case.

During the playtesting we debated whether or not we could have a "superior skirmish screen" rule that would cover situations in which - for example - multiple SK2 units overwhelm a single SK3 unit. But we concluded that it was much too hard to write clearly; there are simply too many ways, too many different angles and relative positions, that multiple units could have their fire zones intersecting, whether or not they're actually shooting at each other. And then you'll have to do all sorts of weird splitting of skirmish screens to account for this unit and that. It would be a mess.
Besides, we concluded that an attacker in that situation already has more than enough firepower advantage.
