   I need some help from those of you that know. My main area of interest is the 1813-14 Liberation era, as well as the Hundred Days. I currently have the core of a French and a Russian army. I would like to add an Austrian army to the mix. Most of my minis are AB, and I really like his Germans with helmets. I believe by 1813 the helmet had been 'officially' replaced, but implementing these changes often took time. My question then is, what is the liklihood there would still be significant numbers of troops wearing the helmet instead of the shako?

   I'm not aware of any units still wearing the helmet in 1813, but I don't profess to have the final word on this.

   The Hungarians were wearing shakos only by 1809 (Wagram) and the rest of the Austrians after that, I don't think any would still be wearing helmets by 1813.

   Thanks Evan, I was afraid of that. Of course, I need to keep reminding myself that I will probably only ever play solo games, so if my 'opponent' doesn't object, why should I worry about it. It's not like I'm arming them with AK-47s, just playing around with their hats. I had a similar problem with my model railroading. I finally started enjoying it more when I learned to relax and not worry if every little thing was 'prototype.' After all, I'm doing this to have fun. And as long as I don't preach this heresy over on TMP, I'll probably be OK.

   I have the beginnings of an Austrian army under way also and they're wearing helmets. I'm sure at some point they will front up against an opponent from a different time where shakos would be more appropriate but them's the breaks!
