   Hi Guys,

   Just jumped on board with Lasalle. First thing, Sam fantastic job on the book. I picked it up and found it hard to put down once I started to read it.

   Anyway in need of some advise for my 6mm French. They are based up on 60x60 at the moment, and looking at re-basing for Lasalle.

   The basing for the Infantry will be on 40x30 bases and 4 to a Battalion. My question is though, because each stand represents a company of men, each French company has a different colour of pompom's.

   With 6 companys historically (4 Fusillier, 1 Grenadier, 1 Voltigier) how does one go about arranging the figs.

   I am looking at 24 per base, two strips (8 figs) wide and 3 strips deep.

   Also I assume that it will be one command strip per 4 bases? Planning on mounting this in the middle and putting 2 figs either side.

   Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. This will really give the Battalion look in 6mm.

   Russell,

   I'm sure most people will tell you it's all aesthetics. Pick what you think looks good, the units are represented by a number of bases, not a specific make up.

   I am using 60mm x 30mm for mine because the aesthetics are so nice (two strips flanking a colour party). What I am planning is to use 60mm BW for smaller battles and 30mm BW for large ones with some generic column stands made up for when you need columns (which in my experience is never for that long in the game).

   So when using 30mm BW each stand counts as two bases. I am going to base my artillery on 30mm bases and use two of them together for the 60mm BW. This may proclude me from using them in tournies as 40mm is the default size but I will live with that (I am doing some 28mm British anyways that I could use).

   It is actually kind of funny because I was using 40mm base widths (WRG basing) when I first started doing 6mm but that was a good 1000 figures ago so I am not rebasing. Had there been a Lasalle in 2001 I might have kept it the way it was.

   How are you basing your artillery? I'm going to go with the 40x30 bases for infantry. I thought 40 x40 for artillery with 2 guns per base? Too crowded?

   40mm is little but I have done that when Iwas basing to the WRG standard and it can work. I am going to do a single gun on a 30mm x 30mm base so that it will be a full base in 30mm BW and half a base in 60mm BW.

   My plan is to go with 40x20s - as I want something managable so I'm not painting forever and day - which will then slot in to the middle of a 60x60 base with the middle 40x40 cut out. I can then put a few skirmishers along the front of the 'holding' base some if that unit has an SK rating and even stick a few Cavaly at the back/side if they are an MX unit.
