What is the best way to base guns and limbers? Do you have you guns loose on their main base so that you can use take them off and use with a limber or do you just have two guns, one based unlimber and one based with the limber? I looking for some new ideas.

Im basing 10mm on 40mm BW.
I use 40x30 with two guns and crew. I then have limber bases of the same size with 4 horses.
I just make sure the limbers line up with the guns then place them next to each other. I think it looks good.
I did have loose guns for my 18mm but found it a pain for transportation etc.
I've based my guns on 40mm x 40mm and have purchased some 80mm x 40mm bases for limbers (which hopefully will arrive soon). In theory this should work as the frontage for a deployed 3 gun bty (2 + Howitzer) will be 40mm x 120mm, the same as one of the guns attached to the limber. A simple swap on the playing table and it should both look good and at a glance be able to tell which batteries are limbered and which are not.
If/when the limbers arrive and I get them painted up I'll try and post pictures.
