Hi guys, just getting back into Napoleonics and I am rebasing my Austrians. What is the recommended way to base Jaegers & other elite light infantry that have SK2 or 3?
My thinking is to base the Jaegers as irregular since I imagine that these will usually break down into skirmisher bases to be attached out or as an irregular unit? Any reason these guys would ever want to be a formed unit?
A lot depends on the terrain. A lot of woods, yes irregular. If not they need to be formed.
Well if they break down into skirmish units then you dont want to base them as irregular.
You want to base them on your SK bases (whatever they may be).
I have this problem with British Rifles and Light Infantry. Here as large units they not only put out their own skirmishers but can drop some off to other units.
My intent is NEVER to break down a whole unit, so bases with two figures on each will be provided for each SK, with two spares to use if I wish to reinforce another battalions skirmish screen. Hope this helps a little.
