   Hi All

   I have just received a complete Laselle army from Battle Honours and find my self completely lost:

   Firstly I have the Light infantry marching pack (1808-1812), (I intend to use these for my SK stands) in the pack it looks like I have 8 with a Bear skin, 8 with a pompon and plume and the rest with just pompon. What are the differences and can I still use them as my SK stands?

   Secondly the Line infantry marching (1808-1812) pack; this has (I think) 16 with pompon and plume, 19 with just pompon then there is 3 with no hat and 3 sets of command. Again what is what and how should I base these? I plan on doing 4 bases as per the suggested basing with 6 figs per base.

   Lastly in the command figures I have; one eagle standard bearer, one officer, one drummer and one fig with what looks like a halberd with a small flag on it, who is he and where does he go?

   Any help is appreciated.

   Line and Light battalions both had 3 diffrent "kinds" of soldiers.

   Light had Chessurs, Carabiners and Voltigeurs
   Line had Fusiliers, Grandiers and Voltigeurs

   For the light, the ones in bearskin are carabiners they are the light version of grandiers, in theory big stong men, trained to use the bayonets. the ones with just pompon would be chessurs, which is the light version of fusiliers. they were the "regular" soldiers of a light battalion, and those with pompon and plume would be Voltigeurs, which were the light of the light battalions, the ones mostly likely to from a skirmish screen.
   But in theory all soldiers of the light battalion could from skirmish line.

   For the line battalion, the ones in plume and pompon would be grenadiers and Voltigeurs, same figures just paint them diffrently, and the rest would be fusiliers.

   Those with no hats would probebly be fusiliers.

   A line and light battalion in post 08 I think had 6 comapines, with two elite companies on each end(Carabiners and Voltigeurs for light and grenadiers and Voltigeurs for line.

   if you have 24 man units Then I think each elite company would be 2 figures.
   So in the line battalion you would have 2 Voltigeurs and 2 grandiers, then 1 officer and 1 drummer and 1 eagle bearar then 17 fusilisers.

   I think that is right

   Gunfreak has it pretty covered here.

   Just remember dont mix line & light within the same battalion. Other than that you shouldnt worry too much. Although the "light company" within a battalion would usually be the ones to skirmish first, you also got the "heavy" or "center" companys out there too.

   The terms can be very confusing though, especially as different armies used the same terms with different meanings. In gact I think the term center company is all wrong for the french. Its a british term?

   Remember also that a French Battalion pack should come with 4 skirmishing figures - those guys are used to make your SK Bases. And one casualty figure for your DISR marker.

   Thanks for this, Sam I don't have the "extra figures" you have mentioned I just ordered standard packs there web site does not say anything about Laselle packs?

   No, battlehonour(I'm guessing you orderd from Oldglory15s?)
   dosn't have the lasalle packs.

   Only CGM and AB have them as far as I know

   The one with the halberd and small flag is probably one of the eagle escorts (really tough guys with halberds and pistols assigned to keep the guy with the eagle safer)

   Oh sorry - right, for some reason I mis-read it as the AB Lasalle packs. Not the Battle Honours.
