I will be painting up some 100 Days French soon and I'd like to get an idea of what shade of blue to use for the jackets. I plan to use a white basecoat and dip the final piece in minwax antique walnut satin.
Thanks

I use Vallejo Prussian Blue (and Prussian Dark Blue for Prussians)
I agree. I use Vallejo Prussian blue (70.965) for french uniforms.
Hi guys
I have gone for Andrea Blue (841) for my French, and Prussian Blue (965) for my Prussians. Reason being, I wanted slightly faded uniforms for my troops.

I agree with Gun-pit Paul
I use 841 for my French, and I recently used Prussian Dark Blue for some Prussian Landwehr. The Prussian Dark Blue is almost black, so IMHO is probably a tad to dark.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I will go with Andrea Blue. It is a lighter color and the wash tends to darken them a bit so it should come out looking decent.
G'day Recce,
You may not want to go this route, but I have mixed my own, enough to fill a couple of old Humbrol pots. To my eye, a mix of {in oils} ultramarine or cobalt blue and raw umber looks good. In Vallejo this became a dark brown such as chocolate brown or raw umber and a mid shade of blue somewhere around the Intense Blue shade, at about 50/50 from memory. If too dark I lighten with more blue or light grey/cream colour.
cheers
Greg
Damn, I have been using French Blue Howard Hues, thinking that the name said it all. Sigh.
