   Hey guys,

   I'm an experienced gamer but new to LaSalle (as in zero games played). Trying to decide which army to build. The British Penninsular Light Division looks very intruiging - lots of good infantry, good in a shooting fight. However, it looks like the have two weaknesses: 1) You only get cavalry via Reserves (and if the dice Gods are unkind you may never see them), and 2) the 2 gun artillery batteries. How much of an impact is this on play, and does it put the Brits at a prohibitive disadvantage? Thanks.

   The British batteries have three guns, not two.

   The British Guards and Light Div are the smallest armies in the game. If you like a very high-skill little force, with no margin for error, that's your cup of tea.

   I have played against Peninsula British with my French Infantry about 4-6 times. I found it a tough opponent if well played. The British have good officers and the Superior Commander rule which makes getting an advantage in formation mismatches and combats very difficult. We play with the Impetuous Cavalry rule which I have not seen any downside to if you can get your opponent to agree. The British reserve cavalry always shows up by Turn 6. it takes some incredibly unlikely die rolls to not get the reserve cavalry by mid game. If the British have any significant weakness it is the 3 stand artillery units that do not have a lot of punch (i.e. fire dice).

   I think the British Light Division with Light Cav Support (assuming with Impetuous Cav rule) along with the Austrian Avant-Garde Division with Hussar Support are two of their nationalites most competitive choices if your goal is to win AB/tournament style games.
