Will there be different combat strengths for heavy cav and dragoons and hussars?

We're in the midst of putting the final tweaks on Cavalry for the full game. There will be some different movement rules, and then big differences between regular and irregular cavalry.
There will also be three levels of quality of Cavalry (four, if you count "special" units like the Maison du Roi, which can be added by specific national advantage.) The different types each have different basic combat values, ranging from 3 to 8.
The presence of Notables will also matter a great deal, since some of them have social rank that demands they command cavalry - for better or worse!

Thanks for the reply. I was getting a little worried by some of the battle reports. I was hoping there would be some difference.

It's always tough to know what to put in a "Lite" version, so I stripped out most of the "flavor" and just kept the basic game mechanics.
The movement rates and abilities of cavalry are considerably more varied in the full game, and I've been debating whether to "update" the Lite version to reflect that.
From what I'm reading, though, some of the people playing the game thus far have been slamming their cavalry into the fronts of fresh enemy infantry units, and becoming frustrated that they're not Napoleonic cavalry. That's just going to have to be a learning curve, I guess.

In the lite version Cavalry virtually cant exploit a weakened unit...as it must move upto 4BW and stop giving an opportunity for the weakened Inf to rally off the hits...
eg Cav spies an Inf with 4 DISR ...Cav moves up but must stop within 4BW....Inf shoots and rallies now has 2 DISR and probably inflicted 1 DISR on Cav....Cav goes in with 1 DISR advantage (maybe)...alternatively the INF backs away 2BW and gets a 2nd shot before rallying....we found we cant get the Cav to exploit weakened linesPosted 5 months ago # -
I think we've got the various CAV rules and rates just about right in the Full version of the game. We're doing a playtest tonight, in fact.
When all of that gets finalized - probably in the next couple of weeks - I'll probably just update the "Lite" version to match perfectly with the eventual book.

I look forward to more lead in my Cavalry pencil.

That still doesn't mean they will be able to run down fresh infantry like in Nappies Zel! ;-)

understood but I'd be happy with cav that can exploit weakened inf
