At our excellent Lasalle day on Sunday here in Ottawa a point came up about cavalry. As cavalry can charge longer than short range for many guns the guns frequently were not getting a shot in (or only a round shot) before being overrun (thier choice being run or fall back).
Are we missing something in the reaction phase?
