Any update on the Cav changes??....they proved useless once again in our last game esp as they rally on 5+ ...but noticed they can freely about face and run in front of shooters which we failed to notice previously

Yeah, it's done. I'm in the midst of the layout for the full book now. There are a number of significant changes.
I just don't have the time to spare right now to do a re-do for the Lite version, and probably won't until February.
If you'd like a sort of quick synopsis, this is it:
* CAV's movement rate in Massed or Line formation is 8, period. No more "near the enemy" penalty. (This means, of course, that in order to prevent the enemy from doing nasty cavalry tricks around and behind your lines, or to ooze through a gap in your line, you need to deploy in two ranks, with your own CAV on the flanks, and/or terrain on your flank that cavalry doesn't like.)
* The Fall Back distance for everybody is 1BW.
It means that CAV can get one "good" charge from beyond musketry range, but if it fails, they're left standing dumbstruck in front of the enemy lines.
But please bear in mind that these changes come in the context of a number of other things that are not evident in the "Lite" version: a number of other rules for artillery, for instance, which affect its range and effectiveness, its mobility (or lack thereof), and its ability to dig-in, deploy gabions, and otherwise defend itself.
There are other action cards, and a number of cards have been altered between the Lite version and the full/final version.
The notables will have a significant effect upon all units, especially cavalry that is out on the flanks.
And there are a whole host of advanced rules, "national advantages" and other things that differentiate the armies and units in a variety of ways.
* * *
I have an astronomical amount of work ahead of me in the next few months, to keep the game on schedule, so I'll just repeat that the "Lite" version is not - and was never intended to be - the definitive final or complete version of the game. Its purpose was to give everybody a taste of the basic game engine and its possibilities. I won't be doing systemic updates of it, and that would probably just confuse people in any event, since over 5000 people have downloaded it and it probably wouldn't be great to have multiple versions floating around.
In the Spring, when full MAURICE appears, the new "Lite" version will have been completely updated in accord with the final game rules.
best,

Thx Sam... the 8BW move for Cav should give it more ooomph on the table and address many issues currently seen. Will give it a try. Look forward to the final set. Our club members have a lot of 15mm SYW armies that dont get much of an airing as we find M&R too long a game for a club nite.
