One of my few regrets with the development of Lasalle is that Sam is not going to add any more 'official' army lists. If anyone is interested in an unusual 'unofficial' army, here is one that fits the AB scheme and is also (approximately) historical.
Danish Army (Liberation)
No modifier
Core:
5 Line Infantry
1 Ryterre
2 SK bases
1 Foot Bty
1 Horse Bty
Plus in attack:
2 Line Infantry
1 Light Dragoon
Light Brigade:
3 Jager (I include the Skarpskytterkorps as jager)
1 Hussar
1 Horse Bty
Line Brigade:
4 Line Infantry
1 Polish Lancer
1 Foot Battery
If fielded in full, this is almost exactly the Danish army at the battle of Schestedt on 10 December 1813. It is one battalion short but that may be off guarding the baggage train; the Polish lancers really were there. All infantry and cavalry units are small.
The unit values on Page 122 of the Lasalle rulebook could be used, but I think some changes are needed for this theatre. The Horse batteries were 3 pdrs so should be light batteries. At least by Schestedt I would rate the Hussars and Light Dragoons as Reliable rather than Shaky. Alternatively, if considering the army earlier in 1813, when it was with Davout in Hamburg, maybe keep the cavalry as in the book, but upgrade each artillery battery to 4 cannon and 1 howitzer. Danish batteries were of 10 guns, it seems, but by Schestedt, most were down to 8.
This is not an 'uber-army' and on the Cam Millar points system it is about average, varying slightly depending on what rating you give to the cavalry and artillery. The fact that the cavalry units are integral with the infantry brigades suggests it ought to be easy to make combined arms attacks, but I've found (admittedly in solo games) that the inability to concentrate several cavalry units (assuming the 'I'm with Stupid' rule is used) makes it vulnerable to an army with a 'real' cavalry brigade.
By the time of Schestedt, there were no French near enough to be reserve brigades. Maybe earlier you could have a French Conscript Brigade (1813) or even a French Veteran Infantry Brigade if you think the troops with Davout were good enough. OOBs of Davout's XIII Corps also show a brigade of cuirassiers but whether they had useful equipment like horses and cuirasses isn't clear to me.
Anyone else out there with unusual armies they've tried?
