I have some clarification questions from a particularly enjoyable game this afternoon.
The first relates to the 'defender' status.
the example was as follows:
Our Activity - we charge our cavalry into their cavalry
Their Combat phase,an indecisive win for us.
they falls back 1BW.
We therefore follow up and catch him
but there seems no 'second' combat pahse.
so, we run through his activities and our reactions before the next combat phase, at which time we are now the defender.
A decisvie win for us.
result - ATTACKER takes 1 DISR - and we are now the defender
even though we attacked, forced him to fall back and caught him.
So the question.
Is there a 'second' combat phase if the fall back result is 'caught' by pursuit?
If not, does such a combat count as a 'countercharge' in such a circumstance?
and the logical corolliary.
if infantry only fall back 1 or 2 BW, this seems to mean that infantry will always be caught - is that correct?
