Hi all,
Please excuse my newbie level of knowledge when it comes to the French but are there any visual differences between the veteran and conscript infantry units?
Basically what I'm getting at is if I call a French Infantry unit 'conscript' for a Peninsular force then claim the same unit as 'veteran' when fielding an Empire force will there be much wailing and gnashing of teeth among the Napoleonic fraternity?

I have no real historical knowledge of the differences but I do have a "gaming mindset" when modeling this on the table...I have a mix of 28mm Perry Plastics and Front Rank Metal figs...I use the Perry's for my conscripts as they are in a mix of overcoat and campaign dress and look much less "professional" than do my Front Ranks...my front ranks are in campiagn dress as well, but have no overcoats...I like the effect in my games...Faron

You can field any battalion and call them veteran or conscript.
Some folks like to have their veterans modelled and painted in campaign dress, covered shakos & torn clothing. While some will paint there conscripts with variety in their uniforms to indicate poorly equipped infantry perhaps rushed into service.
So you will have no problem fielding the units you have.

I can now formalise my order knowing I'll have all the theatres except Liberation covered by the same basic force just swapping an Infantry unit for a Dragoon unit in the Peninsular - excellent!
