I'm a Belgian player,
I played yesterday with my friend and we have some questions:
My forces were composed with a british guard division and allied
brigades ( Brunswick infantry and Dutch cavalry ) during the hundred
days period. I was the attacker with two additional infantry units.
I fought against russian forces.( same number of units as british one
+ more artillery units).
What do you advise as table size? We played with 1 meter on 180 cm but
the russian units occupyed on one line the table and it was not
possible to attack them on their flank! Regarding the number of units,
do we have to respect a specific size for the table? What do you
suggest?
Regarding my composition, how many sub commander may I involve in the game?
I did like this: 1 Cin C alone, 1 sub with the guard division, 1 sub
with 2 infantry units, 1 sub with the two allied brigades. Is that
correct or may I get more sub ?
the last question is the following:
I contacted in my activity phase an artillery unit. During the next
turn, my friend shot on me at first with its guns and destroyed me
during the combat phase.
So, in one turn my cavalry unit (four bases of valiant light cavalry)
disappeared of the battle. I was disappointed but are we playing
correctly with this?
Thank you
Dominique

Even if the Russian defender can fill the entire width, the British will be able to concentrate their attack on part of the Russian army around the objective and win by capturing the objective. I think after a few defeats losing the objectives, the Russians may not deploy so wide.

You then get 1 sub controlling each of the support brigades.

The cavalry can take at most 2 DISR from shooting (they can break, but then would not have made it into combat). If they fight combat it would be 6 dice v 2 dice. Win or lose the cavalry only take 1 DISR, so can't break.
The worst case is when the cavalry fight combat with 3 DISR. They would have had to pick up DISR in previous turns. Combat will then be cavalry 5 dice (8 dice - 3 dice for DISR) versus the artillery with 2 dice. The cavalry break if they lose. But the cavalry would still have to be pretty unlucky to lose.
I suspect you were just unlucky.

Dominique - what scale figures and basing were you using - might help the chaps getting a better feel for your table congestion/troop density... ?
If they were 28mm Figures and on the recommended base sizes then I'd say a 6' x 3'4" Table (1.8m x 1.0m) as you describe is way too small for that figure scale _and_ 2 Support Choices... But if you were playing 15mm scale (or smaller) its probably not be so critical...
