   Greetings all from the waning days of Summer in New Jersey. I've been a busy guy these past few months, working on a new "real" book in Germany, and also doing a huge amount of work for the new game... more about which shortly.

   So I haven't been as active on the Lasalle forums, but I'm glad to be back. I've discovered, though, that we have a very long list of people who've been automatically filtered out (i.e., their posts are hidden), and thus silenced. This might be due to the various spamming attacks we've suffered of late. But sometimes the auto-filter gets a little uppity and just nukes people at random.

   So if you've been silenced - or if you suspect that nobody can read what you're writing, contact me and let me know.

   Now, about this "new game" stuff...

   Over the past several months I've been working with a top-secret team of Elite Wargame Professionals in a vast underground facility beneath the Harz Mountains, and we've come up with a really wonderful new game system. It's very fresh and new and fun, and it looks like it'll be the second HONOUR game, probably in mid/late 2012.

   So I'll have a more formal announcement in the next couple of months, but I'm very happy to report that HONOUR is back on track!

   Funny that you're in the Harz Mountains, Sam... I have an old Army buddy who is now living a secluded life of herding mountain goats out that way. Best cheese money can by, so hopefully he stops by the bunker. Maybe you could even relieve him of some wineskins as well!

   Okay, on a more serious note... The lack of the word 'Bluecher' in the description of the second Honour installment is leading me to suspect that perhaps we are moving in a direction away from Napoleonics?

   Rather than a gripe--if that is indeed the case--I would like to know the era so I may immediately begin spending money on the appropriate figure collection.

   Or is the lack of specificity on an era all part of another Dr. Mustafa plot to overthrow the wargaming world?

   The Harz is beautiful! Over the past decade I'd spent most of my time in East Germany, which I'd grown to love, and had forgotten the West, where I first went as a student in the 1980s, and then returned for grad school in the 1990s. So rediscovering Hessen was a real treat. Those deep forests and brown hills and little villages are story-book "Germany" to me.

   The second Honour game will not be Napoleonic. But it's been an absolute delight to work on and playtest, and it will have a lot of new and fun features that Lasalle never had. And doing it has helped me completely re-think what I wanted to accomplish with Blücher, so that when I return to that, I'll have a fresh start. "Blücher," therefore, will be back, just not in 2012.

   A real announcement will appear in a month or two. The game appears to be on track for a Summer/Autumn 2012 release.

   Sounds good. Glad to hear you've got the fire back in the old gullet.

   You must have seen my goat herding friend, I'm sure his cheese was the source of the inspiration...

   I would like it to be ACW, but didn't you mention the 18thC a while back?
   Or....it could be right and proper rules for French Guard Horse Artillery..whoops!
