British Reaction phase. The 88th decided to fallback as it has been contacted by the 25e Legere. It rolls a 5 and falls back 5 BW. It interpenetrates 3 other friendly infantry units as it fall back. They all take a DISC test, 2 fail and take 1 DISR each.
One of the units who has taken 1 DISR when interpenetrated, has a clear shot at the 25e legere.
Can it fire in the same reaction phase or is it indeed disrupted for the rest of that turn?

John, I think you will find the 88th only fall back 1BW - Infantry units observe only whether the roll was odd or even. 1BW for odd. 2BW for even.

And in any case you will find that there is another question that I asked aimed at the same idea about reaction phase order and Sam said that there is no predetermined order so it is part of the players decisions.
So if you would first fall back and do get past the unit and then the unit can fire I would think it is allowed.

It does seem odd though that a unit that has been disrupted by another unit falling back through it would be able to fire in the same reaction phase.

Well it depends on how long do you think a reaction phase takes. First I would ask myself how long after a unit suffered the disruption before it can fire, then if you think the reaction phase is shorter than that ok. But I think that Sam's turns are long enough so that things happening in the same phase need not be totally simultaneous.
This seems very natural to me now so with that idea of turn flows concepts like this are easy to understand. After all if soldiers could fire 2 or 3 rounds a minute clearly shooting represents more than just a volley but the whole process of shooting and thus a turn allows for more than just the volley.
At least that would be my view.

I realize that the ability of the defender to choose the order of Reactions can sometimes result in some things that look "lucky" or even odd, but I decided that it was the simplest way to execute that phase of the game. We injected enough random chance into it, I think, in the form of Discipline Tests, to prevent any "perfect Reaction."
Now on the other hand, in this particular case: the fall back should have been only 1BW, because he rolled a "5" - odd number.
