Austrian Infantry in Mass Formation get a +2 for INV vs CAV. Does is still get a -2 for INF not in square vs Cav? I would hope that it would be an exception so that Austrian still can get a +2 modifier instead of just being canceled out.

I am sorry I had that mixed up. Ok so since you are half for not being in square you get the +2 for being in Mass Formation. Now you are back to an even roll for 4 units and 5 dice if you have 6 units. I don't see why I would want to go into Mass Formation when I would chose to go to square to half the CAVs dice. Am I missing an advantage for using Mass Formation???

Well, I would guess that there would be a preference of square against cavalry, but if you want to move at attack column speed when you are close to cavlary the mass is a good alternative since if you miss the disc test when trying to form square at least you are in better position than a normal attack column. In other systems I've also seen mass to be better than column but worse than square so it doesn't look unreasonable.

Yes. In Mass formation, you can move.
