In the rules it says base widths approximately =. I have 3/4 inch bw infantry (Napoleon's Battles) and 1 inch bw cav. (same system). If I double the bases as recommended, I will have 1 and 1/2 inch bw inf. and 2 in. bw cav. Is this a workable situation or do I have to stretch the infantry to 2 in. bw as well?

If both sides are the same then no worries.
If not, you can always space out your bases slightly to the same base width or make little movment trays the correct width.My Cavalry are based 3 figures on a 36mm frontage , I can eaither rebase or leave them as is and space the units slightly , or make some movement trays.
I don't think I'll bother rabasing , if I get enthusiastic I will make some movment trays or something.
