   Hi Chaps,

   For the New Zealand guys - just wondering what the preliminary thoughts are about the Lasalle Competition in Hamilton at Easter - who's likely to attend or tentatively planning to, what is the format likely to be? 28mm & 15mm or just one or the other? I see Nick Garden is listed as Umpire but I'm not familiar enough with everyone's Moniker's on here so not sure if he's on this list?

   I see the Hamilton Immortals have 3 Napoleonic Rulesets listed for NatCon (so potentially 6 Competitions if 15mm & 28mm for each):
   1st Volley (Umpire: Russell Warner)
   Lasalle (Umpire: Nick Garden)
   FoGN (Umpire: Brett Preston-Thomas)

   Obviously 1st Volley is Hamilton's own Napoleonic Ruleset - so not sure if there will be much interest from outside their own club and other Waikato/Bay of Plenty guys? Likewise AFAIK only the North Shore Wargaming Club in Auckland play any FoGN - is anyone playing that elsewhere in the country? It would seem to me Lasalle has the best potential for numbers and truly 'national' support (i./e. entrants from all round the country rather than just one club or region)...

   ...so would be nice to get some good support for Lasalle for NatCon - and I know I owe an effort to do so myself after having to renege on Call To Arms recently...

   Any thoughts?

   P.S. NatCon information is available from Hamilton Immortals Website.

   Note: It's one of those dreadful events with the early 2.30pm-3.00pm finish on the Sunday...

   And the venue is restricted size - maximum 200 people for all periods/tournaments/etc... So earlier registration (as opposed to last minute) is probably preferable to be safe...

   P.P.S. Also I didn't realise NappyCon was this weekend just passed in Upper Hutt - was any Lasalle played there?

   I am umpiring Lasalle 28mm at Natcon. Hopefully we can encourage all the 28mm nap players to join up.

   Nick/Tim,

   What special rules and such are you planning to use for NatCon - are you going to use all the ones that were used at CTA, i.e.

   1. Infantry only halve dice when charged by Cav in the open...

   2. The Commander can only command units from the same core or support choice...

   3. If your opponent has Cavalry in their Organic support... your Support... is Reserve... may re-roll...

   4. “Squares moving”, “Irregular Units Recovering”, and “Howitzer and Rocket Batteries”...

   5. “Obstacles: A simpler Alternative rule” and “Forming line by platoon”...

   6. The adjustment to the “Send in the Guards”...

   As we'll look to use similar for BattleCry... i.e. most likely 1, 4, 5, & 6 above. Although I'm not convinced about “Forming line by platoon” (in No.5)?

   I don't propose No.2 for BattleCry because (a) personally I don't think it improves on the existing "I'm with Stupid" 4BW rule (and what was the feedback from CTA over it's use incidentally?), and (b) as we propose larger forces for games at BattleCry "I'm with Stupid" should work even better than usual (and everyone will have the ability to have 3 or 4 Sub-Commanders regardless). And No.3 will be redundant due to how we do the lists and points for the battles...

   1. Included.
   2. Without AB lists rule does not apply.
   3. Without AB reserve support or organic support rule does not apply.
   4. All optional so not included unless both players agree.
   5. Again optional so only available if both players agree.
   6. I think send in the Guards is still. Being guards has its own downside in points cost which may need to be adjusted.

   Discussion on the points system would be great. I think Cav need to be pointed higher and a points system associated with sub-commanders rating or limits to how many can be under command.

   Yep - just reviewing them at present with Cam so hope to table an amended draft shortly...
