   Had my first game using the nobility point option and I must admit they work very nicely ....the good thing about them is that they encourage a bit of light hearted banter and take the heat out of the battle:)

   Also it was a first outing for my French Liberation 1813 army versus the dastardly Austrian Avant Garde ...a very good game and it was good to see the french conscripts lead forward by some very capable subcommanders!

   plenty of lessons learnt by both sides and a good night of gaming..our Lasalle games seem to be getting better and better and using irregulars and different troop qualities certainly gives a very good taste of Napoleonic warfare.....

   I'm really glad I picked the French army as the armies that are on offer certainly let you try out most options!...I usually use the French empire army but it was good to try out the Liberation army even though using conscripts can be a little bit daunting on their first outing............cheers Paul

   It's a rule that I developed for "Blücher," but I agree that it's fun and is worth using in Lasalle.

   Hi James ....me and my Austrian opponent usually have a bit of a tussle so it was good to have a gentlemans game!...it was very heartwarming to see the Austrians feeling the sharp end of the bayonet from the young lads of France!

   Viva la Emporer! ...pity about General Lasalle he lead in the first charge with his freshly raised Chasseurs....alas he croaked it :( ...on the second charge they did the business.

   Hi Paul, JP & i used Nobility Points (NP) while you & Nev were arm-wrestling on the next table the other day! [kidding]

   Now JP & i have good fun games with lots of banter anyway but to begin with i wasn't convinced about NPs - how can rules impose gentlemenly conduct and fair play? To my mind it comes down to the individuals regardless of the rules.

   However, the moment JP did something kind [and then promptly claimed a NP! ha ha] the gloves were off and we attempted to outdo each other with fairness personified [grin]

   So, to my mind it worked well and added another fun element to the game.

   The only point i would make, would be to discourage players keeping too close an eye on the running score of NPs during the game. Maybe, pop a counter into an opaque cup/mug etc each time as you go along.

   Looking forward to facing your French at some point.

   Hi James....as you say the Nobility points were used for fun and from now on,for my games with Nev they will be used probably with just as much comedy thrown in:)...

   ...in our game last week we used them but I don't think either of us thought about how they worked out for the end result ie moving up the level of Victory ....in a tournament I think they could become a negative option if you allow them to change the level victory ...and would be abit unsporting to use them for that end. (I would use them for the sportmanship award only and thats just for a pat on the back only)

   I have quite a few games lined up over the next few weeks but it will be good to face the Russians on the field of battle ....the beauty about the French army is you never quite know what they will be coming up against you with!....

   ...its also nice to get the good Tactical sub commanders as well...I have been playing against and using Brits myself and I thought that the large Austrian units might prove a tough nut to crack, after last weeks battle the Austrians don't look as daunting and can be a bit cumbersome.....now I'll have to see if the French can face the Russian gun batteries and the tough Grenadiers!
