Just to confirm - officers in the firing zone have no effect.
Had the odd situation in my latest game where Napoleon and a subcommander were holding a conference directly in front of a French gun battery firing canister through them at the enemy.
As far as I can see this has no effect.
Why was Napoleon there? Because it was the only place where he could keep all the units under his command while a useless subcommander was alone at the back.
I nearly managed a "perfect" game: where I had no units on the table but still had not broken. I lost 6 of my 7 units of Austrian infanty and the objective by turn 8, but passed my morale tests. Lasted until turn 12 when my reserves finally showed up, but then immediately failed the morale test.
A game where one side has nothing on the table but still has not lost and then achieves the draw is going to be fun (and very annoying for the "victor").
