So got our first game together last night. Should of started sooner in the day but communication problems. Anyway we did a game with French vs Austrians, 1813 liberation lists. French added a Lt Cav, Dragoon, and Curassier. The Austrians got, a Grenadier, Curassier, and cavalry brigades. The game went 17 turns, with the Austrians having to take a army moral test first on turn 16. After turn 17 we had to call it. was midnight and we were all turning into pumpkins. Guess you all can see from the forum the game featured a frantic posting about a bounce thru rules question. Someone had the idea that every unit past the target unit suffered bounce thru. Sam was very kind to respond rapidly to disabuse us from our error. The game also featured a smart little fight for the town in the center. The French brave little conscripts advanced to both town blocks first un assault formation. Just got the first two stands in the blocks so they were placed in the town un march formation. Was observed that it looked a bit like a bonus move of a few inches. So in the Austrian turn came the attacks on the towns. Then next French turn before resolving the Austrian attacks on the towns the french in the right block passed the reaction test and deployed into the town. The other didnt. In the ensuing melee the deployed french battalion won sending the Aust battalion back. And the one still in march fought to a draw! Was some bad luck for the Austrians. Those two units stayed in the towns for the rest of the game while on the rest on the table units fought on. I noticed the it was assaults the really got units removed. Shooting, if it ever caused a unit loss took lots of turns and luck. You can have a look at the photos of the game at our yahoo group, in the photos section in the La Salle file. Thanks again for the help Sam. Everyone agreed its a keeper of a game.
