I am making up a Light cavelry brigade to use as my organic support with my French Peninsula list. Wanting to use perry's plastics as much as possible so have a question. The French Napoleonic Heavy Cavelry box they have can you make the cavelry in there up as Chasseurs? I do not have access to the boc contents nor can find them on the net of the individual sprues.

Don't think that thy do. As I understand it you can make Curaissier and Carabiner units from them.

If that is the case my options are then perry's metals I guess. Only other thing I could do is take a dragon reserve brigade as my support as they make plastics for those.
What are the pros and cons of a dragoon brigade vs the light cavelry option?Posted 1 year ago # -
The biggest Pro with the light option is that it starts on table.
The Dragoons are a great option for you though as they are both Shock and Pursuit so you can use them to mix it during the game, and make that win even better for you.

Hussars are the same as Dragoons if they fight each other, but generally better against others. Dragoons are better than Chasseurs.
Overall a dragoon brigade is a bit better, but not by enough IMO to offset it starting as a Reserve. There will be too many times you are damning your missing Dragoons, and you are forced into a one dimensional gameplan waiting for the cavalry to arrive.
I would go Light Cavalry as my standard choice, and Dragoons sometimes as variety.

Hi
May I suggest you get the Perry Plastics "Hussars" instead. At a pinch they could double as Hussars, (kinda).
;o)

Cheers Cam makes sense from a game play approach.
The other matter that is pushing me to the light cav option as it will give me some variety of figures etc in my painting and on the tabletop instead of a whole big clump of Dragoons I can add some variety in hussars and chasseurs.Posted 1 year ago # -
I´m making a Chasseurs unit for a scenario, I decide to use the Perry Hussards and Dragon Boxes in this way: Head from the Hussards with Shako; Body from the Dragons; Legs from the Hussards; Horses from the Hussards, that way you can have Perry Chasseurs, you can see an (bad) image here:
p.s. the horses are on the qeue for the painting

Wow sounds good. I presume they look authentic compared to the original historical chasseurs. What do people think?

They do look good and apart from the wrong sword and dragoon muskets rather than carbines pretty accurate. Unless you can find a use for the Dragoon horses and legs and Hussar bodies etc they will just go to waste. You will use 2 boxes to make 1 unit raising the cost increasing assembly time and you have
imho lost the advantage of plastic over metal. If you want Perry Chasseurs now why not buy the metal ones?Posted 1 year ago #
