   Hello all, got my book from blackhat yesterday and I am now busy planning a division to face my french infantry division.

   I want to do Pictons division as a core and add a Brunswick brigade later, I would really like some input from people with more knowledge then me if this seems roughly right:

   1:st Rgt Guard
   92:nd Rgt Guard
   42:nd Rgt Elite
   44:th Rgt Elite
   28:th and 32:nd will be the line btns in case of attacking.
   2 skirmish bases as 95:th

   Or would it be better to rate them all as line and use a standard infantry division?

   Hi

   I suspect that you may be overly generous in your ratings.

   The 1815 British army was not the veteran formation that fought through the Pennisular with Wellington. The better units (i.e. the few Peninsular regiments that did not wind up in North America) were brought up to strenght were made up with drafts from militia or new recruits. However, they still had a core of veterans.

   I would therefore be inclined to rate the average British battalion in 1815 as Reliable Experienced. Guards and Highland battalions and the odd genuine veteran unit i would rate Valiant Experienced.

   I also believe that much of the advantage the Anglo-Allied armies enjoyed during 1815 was due to better tactical handling. Also, the french were generally on the offensive which placed far more strain on their command control than the Allies - whose attacks at Quatre Bras and Waterloo were against already fatigued french formations.

   PS: As a general rule, I prefer all armies to be "average" with few, if any exceptional troops.

   Thanks for the answer David! I am perhaps overcomplicating it.
   Judging from your answer it would seem to be better to use the infantry division in the armybuilder and consider all units as reliable/experienced.

   I must say that I am really enthusiastic about this game and all the new miniatures from perry/victrix.

   It would be reasonable to make the 92nd and 42nd Elites. They demonstrated a high degree of discipline and staying power at Waterloo and while I accept Davids point about drafts etc, the espirit of this regiment was very high.

   Ps. The ID name was picked for fun not for any passion for the division. The figures are the very D***l to paint in 15mm.
