Hi. I've played about 20 games now of LaSalle. I certainly have a better handle on the nuances of the game than when i asked "what's the point of Cossacks?".
It inspired me to finish off my 15mm Russian army.
However, the more i play, the more i find each game very samey, even when you randomise terrain etc. I think the rules are very good; simple, fun and i really like the army lists but i just can't help feeling that there's something missing. Whether its scenarios or a proper points system for competitive gamers/tournaments.
Whether or not i win or lose seems to depend entirely on how quickly the reserves come on.
I've been using the 1812 Russian Grenadier Division (sometimes Infantry) with either a Dragoon support option or occasionaly Light Cavalry support. More often or not i defend as its almost impossible to attack with 6 infantry Battalions and no support in sight. I usually face Prussians (100 days) or French.
My opponents loathe all the guns i have but have gradually realised that they're easy enough to deal with.
I started Russians for another ruleset and it was at my regular opponents suggestion as they preferred the European theatre and were short of the boys in green. It wasn't the lure of the massed batteries as some gaming mates have suggested.
