I swapped a copy of Lasalle with Barry Hilton for a copy of his new "Republic to Empire" game. It arrived from the UK today... beat to hell. The packaging was open on three sides, and the cover and pages were bent.
I have no idea what's happening among the world's postmen and customs officials right now, but they clearly don't like us wargamers.
It is called "shopping" if your work in the postal services. At this time of year things get "mislaid" (also read - stolen, rewrapped and given to the children of postal workers).
This seems to happen more now than ever. I guess as managers salaries increase ahead of the rate of inflation and the peasants wages actually go down every year one should not expect anything else.
I use UPS from mid-November until mid-January - things ALWAYS arrive and the cost is less than that of replacement.
