   Sam,

   I was wondering how skirmishers would be deployed in the game...I notice that a few of the scenarios and lists posted include "SK Base(s)"....Will most of the units with higher "SK" factors be able to deploy skirmishers? If so, how many figs will typically be set out as skirmishers? Maybe a couple of figs out in front of a battalion? Or is skirmishing just part of the firing resolution, similar to Grande Armee and the skirmishers would just be for "looks?"

   What is the significance of a "SK Base" when listed in the scenario TO&E and/or Army List?

   I've a feeling that SK bases will be then added to a unit of your choosing, giving them the SK level (eg SK1 = 1 base, SK2 = s bases) according to the number of bases given to a unit. These units otherwise won't have any skirmish capacity. If a unit already has SK capacity, then they won't use these, but have their own (and no bases needed to represent this). I'm not sure whether the rules will allow you to remove SK capacity from (eg Light Inf) a unit to provide you with SK bases to use elsewhere, though.

   Skirmish bases are markers. You can do without them entirely if you can just memorize the SK values of your units, and don't do anything fancy to enhance the skirmish line.

   Each SK marker in front of a unit represents a SK value. Thus, a typical French BN has two SK markers in front of it, while a Russian BN has one, and so on.

   Units that have high inherent SK values can be broken down to create more SK markers, which can then be allocated to other units, representing using that unit to stiffen the SK line, OR... you can transform a high-SK value unit into an Irregular unit, representing the use of it as true "light infantry" in a woods, or town, etc.
