Here in Lexington, KY we are having a great time with Lasalle. However, some things have happened that don't seem to work. First, we play BIG battles, a base unit and 6 support on a 10 to 16 foot by 5 foot table. So we have allowed combined Russian and Prussian 1813 battles. We don't allow units to move again if they fall back or change formation during reaction, that counts as their move. We had a situation where a Russian Guard Battalion charged a village with a French battalion in it. However, to the rescue came a charging Chassur unit hitting the Guard in the flank. The Russians won the order of battle, and charged the village 1st. The Russians lost, but now the problem. According to the rules, the French won but need to fall back since Foot cannot withdraw from Horse. Now the French did not want to lose the village, so we had the Horse withdraw and the Guard fall back disordered. Any suggestions on how this should be handeled?

Well, to play it by the rules, the French infantry would fall back. The Russian CAV shouldn't have fallen back from a battle it hadn't even fought yet.
