From a game last night:
One French Cav regiment charges an Austrian Cav regiment, a second Austrian Cav regiment counter charges. Two defending units versus one attacker.
The French has a sub-commander who has superior tactics ability.
The French win the ability to chose which combat occurs first and declares the use of superior tactics for the attacking French Cav and choses the combat with the countercharging Austrian Cav to adjudicate first.
Is the superior tactics ability applied to only one of the combats to be adjudicated and the death / wounded roll taken immediately after that adjudication or will the ability apply to both combats? If the latter is there only one death roll or is there tow, one after each combat?
