Thanks for the enjoyable game report Mycenius.
Actually I still haven't finished writing up a narrative for it - Oops. Must get that done this week... :-)
I kept expecting the French to break through the centre!
Yes - Cam admits he fell off the pace a bit midway through and basically squandered a couple of turns fluffing around when he should have pressed home his attacks - he also had 2 battalions sequestered in the 'Barn' (which represented a 2 town sector village or large farm) which did little bar sniping at one of the Brunswick Line Battalions with 2D each turn... I created a lot of hassle for the Allies by rushing too quickly to the left and basically having the entire Brunswick force caught in a massive nose to tail pile up of units which greatly restricted room to manoeuvre! So I only managed to rotate 1-2 badly shot up units out of the line to recover and couldn't get the 9th British Brigade to take over when the time came (2BW move in line is a major pain if you want to pass through 2 lines of troops in front). On the other hand both the Brunswickers and the Hanoverian Landwehr did magnificently really - a couple of the latter absolutely shot the crap out of 1-2 French Battalions by the small wood (mainly thanks to Cam repeatedly failing rolls to rally off DISRs), and only the fact they too were shot to hell by the French and the arrival of the Carabiniers put paid to them. I'm looking forward to rolling out my Nassauers and Dutch-Belgians (Perponcher's Division) in another month or so!
Did you consider playing against the programed opponent?
No - I didn't - but that was specifically because we played at the club and I wanted something quick and easy so it was fast to set up and get playing and so on... Future scenarios I hope to use the programmed options to effectively generate the 'objective' & orders for one or both sides... :-)
