After seeing the Post NZ Players ....what about a list of UK PLayers and what they are doing.

15mm French (Empire, Peninsula, Liberation, Hundred Days)
40 x 30 bases

Hougomont ..Lasalle Demo

Future Projects. La Haye Sainte.
Finishing off my French Guard options and adding Polish Allies.
Looking Forward to Blucher! so that I can use my French 6mm army.

Would also like to start work on a Prussian 15mm army as I have not seen many people use it!
(it would come in very handy for demo's etc)

Got the rules before Christmas and have started rebasing some 15mm figures I had lying around. French and Austrian - Inf and Cav on 40mm x 30mm and Art on 40mm x 40mm.

Need some more Austrians to get the numbers up.

If anyone wants to invite me to a game that would help me get the rules understood.

There are 2 other Ilkleylads who have 25mm collections so possibly have a go with them.

I am considering doing the Peninsular in 20mm or 28mm plastic. I have painted a 20mm Spanish unit and have some Victrix 28mm I am going to paint as Neopolitioan/Italian types,

A trip to Rotherham sounds good.

When do you play?

I work in Knaresborough so it is relatively easy to get to Rotherham. Once there it will be fun as I have only ever been to the football ground and a pun near a railway station. I could be spme figures if needed.

Russian - infantry on 30x30mm [i use terrain bases to match 40mm frontage when in attach column, line etc], cavalry and artillery on 40mm frontage.

I have 2 x Support Choices and i'm looking to expand

Bavarians - mostly finished 1 x 1 i'm looking to do French/Allies as Reserves with the intention of eventually having a French Brigade with Bavarian etc support

28mm
Perry French 1 x 1 on Perry bases that come with the plastics ie 6 infantry figures per base

15mm.... Russians - curently re-basing to 40BW (will be ready for the April event).

28mm..... French and Brits - originally bought for BP, which I still also play. Just think that Lasalle looked good for tourneys. Currently running the Marengo event in Mansfield in April (see other posts)......Ilkley to Mansfield is only an hour and quarter at tops......why not enter.....the purpose of the event is to play others that we dont know, not to be over competitive.

Also play lots of other stuff:
WAB2, Victory at Sea, Trafalgar, Renaissance (many rulessts, inc Warhammer Renaissance which I wrote but has not been published yet).....(maybe someday), Black Powder (Napoleonics and Colonial), Flames of War, Blood Bowl.

6mm...1805-09 err scads, easier to say that the Prussians, Saxons and Bavarians still need paint.

Find Lasalle great for workday evening games, particulalry for those who don't wish to mentally invest in the period. Also play a lot of Le Feu Sacre and a bunch of other stuff such as IABSM, GQ and Impetus.

Brand new to Lasalle. Still building and painting.

28mm Plastic Vitrix/Perry so far only painted two battalions. Using Perry bases but two Perry bases to a BW. (I like big battalions!).

15mm Battle Honours. French and British using my old bases. BW = 30mm

6mm Heroics and Ross. French and British. re basing to BW = 50mm

All infantry is based two ranks for British and three ranks for French. Unconventional I know but, as Charles Grant said in my first ever wargaming book, it's the look of the thing that matters to me.

I have a large collection of rules and Lasalle is the rules set I wish I could have been clever enough to have written.

Previously more of a fantasy gamer, I started playing flames of war and have now taken a step over into 'proper' wargaming after something inspired me to pick up a copy of Lasalle.

I have most of a 15mm Peninsular British Light Division ready (although not painted) nd have had a few games - due another one a week today. Have 2 guys at my club http://dudleydarklords.org.uk/ interested although their armies are still wooden blocks. There is another guy who also has a 6mm force although on the same frontages so might have to play it haha.

@Mark (Adanem) We are only just done the road and meet on Tuesdays

Hi Trev ....I should be at York, will have to checkout the Leutzen demo game.Will you be using Lasalle for the demo?...I hope so as its good to see Lasalle used for more of the scenario type games ....cheers Paul

I think its the 1632 Leutzen from the 30 Years War. Trev will probably be using the Warhammer Renaissance Rules he authored.

I hope to make it to York as well so perhaps a few of us can meet up. Trev's demo game is an obvious focal point.

Hi Alan ...I thought he meant the Battle of Leutzen/Lutzen where Napoleon lured a combined Prussian and Russian force into a trap.....I'll see Trev, no doubt he'll point you out.

I tried to get the Hougomont demo at York but fully booked up....should be covered for next year .cheers Paul

Hi James ....I'm not a lover of tournament games etc, a Napoleonics day covering all aspects of Napoleonics and rulesets ie Lasalle, Blackpowder, Gen de brigade would have been a more interesting prospect for me. I like to see the different armies on the table to compare the look and feel of each one.....

playing to a time schedule and rushing in 3 games in a day seems hard work ....for me, one good game in a day probably multiplayer with nice terrain and well painted mini's....some good grub and a few pints ....mmm now thats fun!

Its good to see that the Lasalle ruleset gives people the opportunity to play tournament games....not many Naps rulesets can achieve that. I thought their was a strong 28mm Blackpowder Napoleonics contingent at Maelstrom and I thought it would have been good to have included them as well.

Good luck with the tourney and if I can get the chance I will try and get down for a look and a bit of banter.

For me, its playing against friends [new and old] and especially those who i wouldn't have met otherwise.

I've played a couple of guys recently who are not part of my usual gaming circle. Its really interesting, i mean that in a good way, to see a different take on Support Choices, Rules interpretation, Tactics, choice of armies ...

I would have probably preferred two games in the morning and a "doubles" game in the afternoon but kudos to Trev for getting this going

I hope there won't be too many games with blue on blue forces ie Russian v Russian etc thats why I think for tournament play, it would be good to have a French team v an Allied team....early days yet! at least Lasalle gives you the options.....as their ever been many Napoleonic tournaments?...I cannot remember many!

I raised the Blue on Blue issue in an earlier post. I think Trev's intention was to avoid it in the 1st round match ups but after that it would just fall to the pairings produced by the Swiss system. So in rounds 2 and 3 there are probably going to be some Blue on Blue games.

I agree with all your comments about competition play. The last time I played in a competition was in the late 70's. I didn't like it then and I don't suppose I will like it much more now. I entered this competition just as means of meeting up with a few Lasalle players I don't know and seeing how others use the rules. I certainly won't be taking it too seriously. Oh and there was the point that I was the one who volunteered Trev to organise the event so it would have been bad form to have refused to take part!

Hi Alan, I like competitive play and will really try to beat the opposition...but its the 3 games in a day that I find a chore...a big narrative campaign/battle ....multiplayer and plenty of windups against the opposing players ....that for me is the perfect way to play Napoleonics...lots of Grandeur...plenty of Huffing and Puffing and that memorable charge! lead by your favourite General .....Lasallale has given me back that gameplay
