I have played this that a unit can only wheel forwards before a charge. Just wanted to check if that is how others are playing this or if some interpreting the rule as permitting a retrograde wheel before a charge?
Wheeling before Charging

The Laselle rules are pretty clear about this. Page 31 under "Limited Wheel Prior to Charge" it states, "The only maneuver permitted to a charging unit is a special limited wheel, which must be done as the first movement expended in the charge move." That means no retrograding when charging. Hope this helps.

I didn't think it was that clear which is why I asked the question. The rules for wheeling state that retrograde can be combined with wheeling. Hence the possible area of confusion.

Yes Alan, you are correct. Retrograde can be combined with wheeling, during normal movement, but the only maneuver permitted to a charging unit is a special limited wheel. Rule books can be very difficult to write, and yes sometimes they can be confusing.
If you want to ever read a confusing rule book, pick up these rules called DBA (rules for ancients), or was it DBM? Now I'm confused which it is. Maybe it was WRG? :-)
