I don't know if I've missed this in the rules but how wide is the river in the pre-set table? As streams are defined as 1BW in the Terrain Options table I would assume that it would be 2BW. Is this correct? I know in historical scenarios the actual river can be modelled but for pick up games are we talking minor river or the Danube?

Just wondering if there is a restriction on river width. I've checked through the rules again to make sure that I haven't missed anything but really can't find any info on river width. All other terrain has dimensions defined under the 'Customising the Board: Terrain Options' Table (or in the Fighting in Towns Section for Town Templates) so I figure that there should be so info. There are obvious implications especially with the Engineering optional rule.

It is not defined as far as I know. The map shows the scale of the river. It is about as wide as a single town base (which is 3BW). But I doubt the width matters much - the key is it is uncrossable.
A player can't put down a river as one of their choices - so the only time it comes up in the AB game as per the book is table Even-1.
In practice you will just use whatever river model you have.

Thanks for that. I figured as much and we have rivers at the club from 1-3 BW so whatever's laid down will do. After reading a couple of reports about games using the river table it sounds interesting.

I feel rivers are a hard one as to size, after all, how wide is you local river? I bet it varies along it length. Just go with what feels "right"
